Instructions for Use:• First, turn the Xpandrel® down to the low limit of the bore you will be fixturing your workpiece from. This operation is typically performed between lathe centers for the greatest accuracy, although the method you choose is up to you. Xpandrel® can be held between centers, or in a chuck or collet. • After machining the Xpandrel®, loosen the actuator screws in each end just enough to relax the Xpandrel® body. • Mount your workpiece on the Xpandrel® and tighten the actuator screws at each end firmly using the supplied hex key wrench. • Fixture the Xpandrel® and workpiece assembly into your particular manufacturing setup and perform the required operation on the workpiece. • Repeat the manufacturing cycle again as required beginning with the second step. |
Please note: Xpandrel® should not be machined at speeds greater than 1200 RPM in an unsupported state (no work piece mounted). Centrifugal forces will cause the expanded sections to move away from the centerline out towards the turning tool, resulting in the center most area cutting smaller than the solid non-expanding end sections. |
